Cultural Heritage Centre for Asia and the Pacific, Deakin University
CHCAP’s mission to to support support the protection of the Asia-Pacific region’s cultural heritage in a context of rapid urbanisation and economic and cultural globalisation. Its activities include training workshops, educational curriculum advice, research and consultancies. It aims to draw practitioners, scholars and students across the region into collaborative projects and it disseminates professional information through publications, workshops, seminars and conferences.
CHCAP was established in 2001 as the result of an agreement between UNESCO and Deakin University in 1998 and has a MOU with the World Heritage Centre and is a founding and core member of the UNESCO/ICCROM Asian Academy of Heritage Management. It is also closely connected with ICOMOS and Museums Australia. Its director is currently Prof William (Bill) Logan wl@deakin.edu.au and deputy director is Dr Colin Long clong@deakin.edu.au.
